Hi

I have a 14.2 pony he is a bit of a mix between welsh D and fell. I would really like to show him but am a beginner in this area and wondered if they have to be a pure welsh D/Fell/ other and registered to a breed society to enter?
Thanks in advance xx

If he is a hairy native type you will get away with showing him at local level in M&M classes . Anything above that he will have to be pure bred & registered.

they are meant to be pure bred even at unaffiliated, just they dont need to be registered. if your horse doesn't look like one breed or the other, then it is unlikely to be placed at the top of the line. they wont be kicking you out, so you're fine to enter but I wouldn't expect to be winning unfortunately. Part bred welsh classes only tend to come in at the bigger shows and they're not hairy or look anything like M&M's as they're normally Welsh cross TB or warmblood and are lighter and more elegant and always pulled and plaited.
