THINKING about having a go at RC level. What sort of gear for me?I have a light chestnut sec D with big white blaze and legs.He has brown, plain tack. What colour jacket and breeches do I need? What sort of show doIneed to do?

At RC level you don't have to splash out on anything flash at all. Your tack will be fine with a very discreet numnah underneath the saddle. You need a tweed that complements your horse and creamish colour breeches with long boots or short boots and gaiters. A creamy coloured shirt (to match the breeches) and a tie that goes with horse and jacket. Have a look at eBay for jackets and things.

Good luck!

It's easier for me to post a photo than go into it all - basically what hellspells said, although canary breeches are acceptable as well as beige/cream. With the Welsh D's the judges like to see them moving on, as they were originally bred to get you from A to B as quickly and as comfortably as possible - that's why Genie does well in showing but not dressage! A good gallop (ground permitting - at the moment they're tending to say don't gallop) is a definate bonus! You basically do the same individual show as you would another class - show trot and canter on both reins, gallop, and keep it short and sweet.

It's not the best photo, as she's a bit mouthy and rather overbent, but you can see what we're both wearing!
