I much prefer my Joyriderz jacket to my Bodyguard. It is certainly more comfortable in the car as it is not as bulky the protection is not as hard.The Bodyguard zip went in about the first 6 months and i could get no sense out of customer services. I had been saying for years tht I couldn't understand why MH didn't make a Hi-Viz version as they certainly make hi-viz jackets, so when I saw the JRz advert I fell on it. Sis and I both like them and although we haven't had them long enough to use the summer part yet, that will be another advantage over MH.
 
Ooh! I was wondering about one of these. I would be interested in hearing from anyone that has had a fall. Did it help etc?
 
Love my bodyguard. Feels bulky for first few minutes but then I don't notice it! I feel very safe riding in it in winter as it protects many more areas than a body protector! Would really recommend!!
 
Love mine!

When I hit the ground hard enough to sustain a bleed on my brain (had a hat on), I was wearing that jacket - not an ouch on me :D (other than head obviously lol).

I ride in it in the summer, but it does get warm.

Can't sit in the car in it.
 
The Joyriderz jacket has a summer bit, with zip out sleeves, which I haven't had the opportunity to use yet :( The fit is better on the Joyriderz jacket, I found the bodyguard tended to ride up, the belt didn't tighten up properly, or stay tight.
 
I have had mine for 2 years. Wore it quite a bit the first year as horse was new, so felt much safer on her wearing it, it hasn't actually been used this winter, but it was a good investment.
 
I'm very tempted by the JR but I wish they'd invert the colouring.I did suggest it and they seemed interested in my request...if not invert at least to put a Hiviz panel on the back :)

Agree. I don't see the point of it having the coloured panels where they are. Be as well to be black therefore look smart, and add a hi viz vest on top. OR be properly hi viz. The back just looks to have a very narrow band of fluorescent piping.

I'm not entirely clear from their site what you actually get for your money either. Do you get a summer/winter/Gillet/waistcoat in one, or do you get either a summer or winter jacket.

The scrolly font on their site is a bad choice too while we are at it.

Great idea, needs a few tweaks to perfect it.
 
I have a pink joy riderz and I love it. The inner jacket is really warm and waterproof so i really only use the outer padded one for road hacking. I've definitely not had any bruises since wearing it but that might because I havent fallen off yet! I do put my hi vis gillet on over the top but I love a bit of high vis.

I fatter than you so don't have that problem :cool: :rolleyes:

Looked at the Joyriderz, but decided against as I wouldn't take the sleevs off - I like the protection for the elbows (having tried to dig into the road with one of mine from above six feet up, ouch).

They do look smart though :D
 
I have a Joy Riderz jacket and find it very comfortable and warm. I think it has enough hi viz but I do also use a hi viz saddle cover, bridle, tail wrap and hat and boot bands. Several other friend have bought them after my friend and I got ours and they are also very happy with them. The only comment I would make is the front armour makes me look like I have a very maronly bosom - if I had gone for the pink option I could almost pass for Jordon :D
 
Wear my bodyguard non stop since buying it last spring, muck out in it, drive it in, ride in it! Don't find it bulky really at all (although did take out elbow guards as they irritated my elbow nerves mucking out), much more freedom than my racesafe (although I have had it shortened now so might be better) am considering buying an air vest though for really hot days and comps when can't wear bodyguard. Def worth buying a bodyguard I would say, any protection is welcome as far as I am concerned. :) I have a size small and can get loads of layers under (I am a 10/12), only slight negative is it sometimes gets under my seat a bit if I doing rising rather than sitting trot, probably because I am a short arse!

Yes, I agree about the elbows bit! Just watched an info vid on the Joyriderz one and it does look nice but it said it was weather proof/water resistant not waterproof so I think I will go for the Bodyguard. Thanks for the info. :)
