Thinking about getting some, mainly for SJ but will use them for dressage aswell.

I've got the steel toe cap joddy boots by MH and I think their great!

Has anybody got any or know someone that's got some?

Are they a nice comfortable boot?

I've got two pairs of the model before that , think they were called High Rider Sportive.

I love them but I know many people had issues with the zips, so keep your receipt and MH will exchange them for you.

All in all v good and no breaking in necessary

Yes I've got some and I use them for SJ and dressage. They took only a short while to work them in and now they are really comfortable. Initially they rubbed a bit round my ankles but after only 2 or 3 sessions in them they've settled fine.
The only thing I don't like is they are a bit fiddly to clean around the laces on the front of the boot - I seem to attract bits of hay and rubbish that stick under there and I have to keep picking them out each time I clean them.
You get the stirrup treads to go with them (I also have MH short boots so seem to be collecting stirrup treads atm) and also some inflatable boot trees which is a nice touch I thought.
Anyway I really like mine.

I have them!!!
I really really like them!!
I use them with the matching stirrups for everyday hacking, lessons, sj, xc and dressage. Once you get used to them placing your foot in a certain position they are very comfortable. they have made a world of difference to my leg position. They also make my leg more secure!
I also wear them round the yard and they are perfectly comfortable.
can't fault them at all!!

Oh brilliant! Thanks guys!!

Do you think you need the stirrups irons too? I was just going to stick with the treads and put them in my current irons?

I just stick the treads in my ordinary stirrups (mine are bent irons though so don't think my foot would get stuck in them anyway).

I've been looking at the short boots from thte range (either Windsor or Stirling), actually bought a pair on a really good deal on ebay recently but they felt huge. Do you think they are quite a wide fit?

I'm trying to find a reasonably priced pair of size 6 (in black!) as the 6.5 were too big, but worried they'll still feel too big if they're a wide make. (it was the Ladies fit I bought!!) No way I could go smaller than a 6 as the length would not be enough but I have quite narrow feet. No where around me stocks them to try on.

I have pretty average sized feet, possible large average and they fit fine. I find the length quite generous and the width of the leg on the small size. I normally wear standrad length with a medium leg width in long boots and with these the regular width were just a little tight so i had to get the wide which are a little big and they dont make the wide in a short length so i had to get regular and put heel lifters in. They have dropped a little and are now a perfect length.

When it comes to the iron i was told that you shouldnt' use the treads with any irons bar the mountain horse or fillis irons. This is because in normal iron there is a chance that the treads can come out. I would try and explain why but i think it would just confuse you!!

In all honesty it probs doesn't matter but i wanted the irons anyway!!!!

Thanks for the reply re: sizing. Looks like it's going to be a no-go for me and my stupid long/narrow feet. Hmph!

Surely that's just a salesperson's tractic to get you to buy their stirrups? Can't think why using the treads with other irons would be an issue as long as they fitted in to the base properly?

I dont think they make them in a 6. Something to do with the continental sizings. 38 = 5, 39 = 5 1/2, 40 = 6 1/2. Sorry, cant help other than that

Sorry I didn't mention the sizing issue!

I am a size 5 and my Rimfrost 5's fit me perfect, but with my MH steel toe cap paddock boots I had to have a size 4.

It was the same for a friend of mine too, she had to have a smaller size in the steelies!

I've had the MH Rimfrost's before as well and they fitted fine. (maybe it was the fluffy lining that stopped them feeling loose?!)

Away to look for alternatives and goin to try and be patient so I can try them on at Blair.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my size question and apologies to the OP for butting in to your thread!

Ha Ha you didn't butt in! - It's here for all!!

I'm glad that yyou brought it up because it was important to me too! - just forgot to mention it!!
