Would you expect a pair to last, being worn maybe 15 days a month? Cleaned regularly and stored well.

A year?

I have MH Sportive High Rider boots, and they finally bit the dust last week - the zip on one bust open and the stitching at the side has completely come away. I cant believe that I've effectively paid £10 a month for these boots, surely they should be expected to last longer than a year!!!!!!

yes should def last longer than that, go back to the shop and show them whats happened, if it gets nasty and they won't replace them quote the consumer goods act that states a product must be fit for its purpose and last a reasonable time during that task. also if they're not a year then they will be in warranty anyway. if in doubt contact local trading standards office.

I have a second hand pair I got off ebay and they look ancient but are still going strong, I also have a pair of the short boots and they have finally started to com apart round the toe seam and all the SCS tread has worn down with all the walking I do in them, but they have been used for about 3 years for everything from mucking out to riding to walking the dog!
Sounds like yours haven't worn well I would return them if you can, good luck!

won;t matter if you got them online still stands with the consumer act. try to find something to proove the purchase then go from there, otherwise try writing to mountain horse and explain the problem they might feel generous!

Ahhh I wrote to MH about the treads on my boots wearing down to see if I could get replacement treads the leather at that point was still OK but never got a reply!! Tried the UK and their head office in Norway/Sweden, wherever(!) but nothing, boots have since started to fall apart on the leather so won't bother now!!

I bought mine a year ago and they're awsome! I wore them every day for three months over the summer season doing everthing in them including walking about for hours and climbing on carriages and they still look amazing and no signs of breaking. Had my protective riders for 5years and they've have a very very hard life and thier just letting a touch of water in now too

I have had mine for about three/four years and only ride in them. The zips are fine and I dont have either stick insect legs or fat ones....... and all the stitching is fine, but I only ride, not muck out etc in them.

the zips are bad on them, could you see about getting a new zip put in, cheaper than buying some more

This has happened to me 3 times .The first pair a replacement was sent. The second the sole parted and leather flaked of the top.The third pair the zip broke and the company told me I shouldnt expect them to last more than a year so I paid for a new zip and they posted them to mh .When they returned the boot they only sent one they lost the other boot in the warehouse so they had to send me a new pair .I am on my last pair but I wont buy anymore although they are really comy they just dont last.

I have had my High Riders for about 6 years and spend all day everyday in them. I muck out hike through mud ride in them the list goes on and for some reason with all this abuse and neglect they keep going strong...going to be gutted when they do die as they dont do the Nubuck version anymore!

I wrote to MH a couple of months ago as my pair of old Sportives broke. Anyway for 25 quid they will repair the zips, but if their only a year old they should repalace them for free.

Horsemasters Distrubution is the UK branch of MH it will come up via google. If not PM me (TO REMIND ME!)and I will get the address from my work email on Monday
