So I am on a boot hunt for christmas and currently I can't make a decision so what to hear your opinions on both Ariats and Mountain Horse boots. Or to be honest any boots that fit the shorter person.

I have average sized calves (35.5cms) and am 5'3 and the length from my foot to just under my knee is 39cms :o I have the problem of having sized 7 feet so need adult sized boots that are child length!

Ideas on a postcard please. :D

The mountain horse dug into the back of my knees the slightest when I tried them but I am 5ft so a bit smaller then you.

The ariat ones were fine as size 3 and under are shorter in the length but I think any of the bigger sizes would have been too long but again I am shorter then you so they may be fine :)

Mountain Horse sell things called heel lifters which are basically a foam wedge to fit into your boots which makes them the correct height if they are too long, they work for me and only cost about a fiver. :)

Thanks for the tip. One problem though. I already have to have insoles in my boots to help with my arches (I fall in on them thus gives me knee and back pain). Would I be able to use the wedges aswell as my current insoles given to me by the physio?

I can't see why not, they only lift the back of the foot and don't alter the fit at all other than increasing heel height and they are very comfy to use. It might be best to try a pair with your current boots to see how they affect them first before you buy new boots though!

Good idea, thank you very much!:)

I've no idea about the length wise. But I own a pair of MH and a pair of ariat and I prefer the ariat by far, I have owned several pairs of ariat and have always found them to last forever!!

I got got new compitition boots last christmas and I always wanted the ariats Bromont H2O boots, they are so nice soft didn't need to wear in and then I went to try them on and they were too long, I am about 5'3. I just assumed they did short like their chaps but they don't. The ones I ended up with were the mountain horse supreme high rider as they were as soft as the ariats but they come in regular and short lengths so fit great. I do still love the ariat ones and if I could i'd have the ariats any day

Parents have said they don't want to go much over £260 as I probably haven't stopped growing yet. :o:eek:

Ah ok, well on the website the plain leather long boots start from just under £200 for women? My friend has some and loves them, only thing is they squeak on her synthetic saddle! They have a protective steel toe, climate control technology and arch support.

I have short legs and Equitector boots. Was very lucky as got them on half price sale at Robinsons and they only cost £90. My last pair lasted 4 years. (I had to have zips done once but equitector can do this and don't charge too much)

I find it's not just boots. I have problems with sleeves, jackets, tops etc and also leg length with jods. Also with clothes, not just horsey wear!!! I.m 5ft.

Not sure about boots - I bought mine 10-ish years ago, but only use them for competing. For short jodpurs - I have Phoenix at home, and Caldene kids grip-seat ones for jumping. (I'm 5foot2")

For jods, I buy breeches and they are nearly jodphur length on me. Under long boots it's fine, or I just cut a chunk off the legs, but this is more of a hassle and can mean that the knee patches aren't quite right. Not sure why they make them that long as I have this problem and I'm 5ft 4ins which is about average.
