I have an 11yr old 14.3hh grey connie. I have successfully shown him in riding club classes and working hunter, all at local, riding club level. I would love to try him in a M&M class at riding club level. The problem is I know they should be shown natural with a decent mane and feathers but in the summer his feathers fall out, and at present he doesnt have any. Would i still be able to do M&M classes with him, i dont want them to think ive trimmed them off, as i havent. Also is a blue hacking jacket with white or blue shirt with a blue and yellow tie ok to where.
Any advice is welcome and also pics would be great, especially connies. Thanks

I don't think the feathers will be an issue, many of the connies I've seen recently have had their legs clipped out anyway as their owners go for the more sleek hunter pony look (technically not correct for M&M but it does look smart). Blue hacking jacket will be fine and will suit a grey nicely, a pale blue or off-white shirt would be better than pure white and a nice matching tie. Go for beige jodhpurs rather than canary for M&M as it gives a more workmanlike impression and I think canary should be reserved for young children only anyway.

Our D's have all got bog burn - we're hoping feathers will grow back sufficiently in time for the county show at the end of the month!

As long as the feathers look neat and natural (i.e. you don't not lots of blunt ends and raggy bits) then I'm sure you'd be fine. Go to a couple and ask the judge at the end of the class to get their opinion.
