HHO shopping advice needed please! My son is asking for some kit to do mounted games with at home- I’ve had a quick search but can’t find much? He’s just playing but it keeps him interested in going in the school during winter!

suggestions please- preferably spike free as it’ll be used in a rather nice school (we’re finally moving yards- hooray!)

I got a load of games stuff for my RDA group from the Early Learning Centre (does that still exist?) rather than paying over the odds for 'PC games' kit.

Bean bags, balls, mini tub trugs etc; buckets, bending poles and bases rather than spikes were a Homebase and home made combined job.

Road traffic cones on their own are good for markers, add beanpoles for things like mug race.

Have a look for school sports suppliers for things like tubs for potato race, mugs and beanbags. Local pound shop is also a good source!

I can’t remember where I got plastic eggs from but they were great for egg and spoon race.

Sportsmark sell all the official pony club equipment but it's expensive for what it is. If you look on there you might get some ideas for things you can make at home?

Flags are easy: garden cane+material, road cones, tin camping mugs, pyramids out of ice cream tubs, washing up liquid bottles are good for bottle race and making litter/pole sleeves. A lot of games need bending poles, you can get weighed bases rather than the stick in type, or even use small cones and wooden poles. Wooden poles are banned now for pony club tho.

Years ago most branches made their own equipment but everyone seems to have gone over to the standard stuff now.
