its a bugger being short isnt it - i always look with envy at the others with great long willowy legs that just sort of float into the saddle on their 16.2 TB's - whereas i on the other hand nearly rupture my self getting my foot in the stirrup and then hop about for ages going purple in the face - poor pony has the saddle nearly underneath her by the time i can summon up enought strength to heave my round body up!! Then it takes me 5 minutes of puffing and panting to recover! Neadless to say i always use a mounting block/fence/or slope to mount. (But i am a grandma!!!)

Tend to mount from a wall on the yard! I can just about get on from the ground, but prefer not to and having a 17.1hh and being 5ft 7 I feel is a pretty good excuse not to!

I have to get on from a mounting blocl/gate/wall etc or my treeless slips. Even with a treed I very very rarely got on from the ground, so I probably would struggle now!

I generally use my mounting block but can mount from the ground (even on Sparks...there is a fab video somewhere!). On anything 14.2 down I can do the gaucho style mounting!

i always use the mounting block but that because its there i am perfectly able to get on from the ground but my pony is only 14 hands so im at an advantage there

Have to get on from a mounting block or leg up - yard policy. But can get on from the ground if and when needed (ie when the kids used to drop their whips out hacking)

Another shorty here - can only mount things up to about 15h from the ground - combination of short legs and short stirrups and a dodgy left hip that means I can't get my leg high enough. Luckily my riding school insist on mounting blocks and have massive ones with steps up

I always use a mounting block now but when I was backing Bodey I had to get on from the ground as I just didn’t want to add in something that could spook him, no problem there now though. So I mount from a block but can get on from the ground, saying that Bodey is only 15hh!

I always mount from the ground. I'm a pretty springy person and can light swing myself up there from either side. I also have a habit of springing off when dismounting too as I don't like to pull the horse or saddle.
