moving yards??
i was looking at a post similar to this and thought i am in the same situation! it got a good response so thought someone could help me, although i did say about my situation so im sorry if you see this repeated!
so ive been at this yard since i learnt to ride and ive statered thinking about moving on as it is really basic there. here is some info about current yard and possible yard:

current yard:
ALL my friends are there, a lot of friends who are only yard friends and who i couldn't leave
we are all in the same pony club and we all train together and do the same things like share lessons
fields are ok, well managed although too many horses are in them and water is left for me to clean out, ragwort grows (although they do get it out) and there is a dangerous piece of machinery that is like growing out of the ground which YO refuses to move
YO daughter is my best friend and i dont think she will forgive me if i moved, because it would mean a lot to their family
i learnt to ride there
its a riding school
they are really laid back and helpful, very experienced although a bit toooo laid back if you know what i mean, yard is a mess and things don't get done
can go straight out onto the common, no roadwork, good hacking and can hack to xc courses and other commons
2 very small sized schools, made up of mud, 1 floodlit, extremely unlevel and are always being used, jumps available
stables are OK
20 a week (inc schools, fields, jumps, stable and will bring in/ take out for free and whenever although won't change rugs and no option to pay more for half or full livery) so my mum is happy!
10-15 mins away in the car
my sisters would have to move too and they have friends there

possible yard:
1 big outdoor arena
1 small indoor arena
10 mins away in car
30 a week for facilities DIY
solarium
smaller fields
friendly although not too experienced
1 friend there who i recently met, in the pony club too except she doesnt live near me
very good common although roadwork
not a riding school
stables in a barn

im stuck! i haven't seen possible yard yet but mum is quite willing and so am i although she doesn't want to leave our present yard and nor do i! the vote on the other post was really one sided, everyone thought she should move, but i can't make up my mind!
any help apprecited! thank you!

Go and have a look round first things are not always as nice as they are when written down on paper! One thing though! I went to see a yard once and it was stunning, really tidy etc, but when i moved there i realised that 46 horses using one area was rediculous so it was a wasted move. Never rely onthe the YO telling you- "yeah its easy to get in the school, ieveyone shares etc" just ask how many ridden horses are stabled at the yard and im sure you will work out how easy it isto use the facilities!

Yeah I agree with the others and go and have a look round ,your current yard sounds great to me ,I wish my daughters had people from their pony club at our yard ect,I would just say that sometimes it's better the devil you know in some cases with yards , go and have a look and good luck

When I moved I vistied the yard 4 times before taking Bert there. I went at all different times to see what the "traffic" was like on the yard with the school and wash area etc.
It really is best to look at every angle as I can think of nothing worse than moving and then hating it!
