If I move to UK, how much do I have to pay for a livery? (correct english? Help :o) I want the best for my horse, a nice stable, large paddocks with another horses, outdoor school and so on. Dont need luxury though..

What the difference between full livery, part livery and DIY livery?
 
Full livery - Your horse is cared for 7 days a week (rug change, turn out, bring in, mucked out, skipped out, tack cleaned, groomed daily and in some cases exercised twice a week too. Depends on the area price wise - Anything between £100-170 per week.

Part livery - Your horse is cared for 5/7 days a week (depends on package) - rug change, turn out, bring in, muck out and skipped out but NOT groomed or exercised. This is usually anything from £70-110 per week.

DIY livery - You pay for a stable, field and facilities, but you are expected to do all manual work and are responsible for the care of your horse. Depending on facilities, this can vary between £15-65 per week.
 
I would agree with the above, however - to me Full Livery includes exercise six days a week as required, plaiting up for competitions etc. I charge £150 a week for full livery, £110 for part, and £30 for DIY.
 
Here's another one thinking about packing my horses in a lorry and moving to UK! I've got a 2-year old colt and a 4-year old mare, and I'm wondering if it will be difficult to find a place for my youngster, or is it? (Here in Finland it's always a huge problem to find a stable for a stallion) Where do you people keep your young horses?

And what on Earth is AYTO? Bumped into it somewhere and I just can't figure it out. :D
 
Part livery sounds great :D So, if Im looking for a nice city, quiet with lots of horses/stables/trainers and a cross country course/fences, where should I live?

"Year round turnout is not encouraged, but is available most of the time" I dont understand what that means?

Probably not encouraged due to the damage done to the fields (it gets very wet here!). If a yard doesn't have enough land or the right sort of land to cope with the number of horses, they will want to restrict the turnout during the winter. Some yards will say no turnout in the winter :( Some will restrict it to a couple of hours a day :(

As to your earlier question re. your colt, there are yards that will take entires, but they aren't always so easy to find.

The Cotswolds is probably one of the most beautiful areas in the UK...unfortunately also one of the most expenssive! It's also very rural with not many cities around. Bristol is a wonderful city to live in, but you may face quite a commute to a yard in the countryside.

Can you take a holiday and spend a couple of weeks travelling around the area you want to relocate to? It's one of the best ways to get a feel for life in the area. Keep in mind as well that the UK is going through the worst recession in living memory and it may be tough to find a job, while at the same time facing a higher cost of living and greatly reduced public services.
 
Actuallty, I will be going to the Cotswold area in 3 weeks :D Hopefully I will find out if it is "my" place or not.

I really want to find a job as well (if I want to relocate) but I really need to practice my english first..
