Following my thread a while ago about what to do with my two who were turned out at a lovely place but after a bit of enforced limited t/o had decided they came in along side the others every night. They had never so much as looked up when the others came in previously so that was a shame.
Realistically I just couldn’t keep them coming in like they were, moving them was to make life easier but ended up taking me far longer!
I loved it there though and would gladly have given up what I have here at home and just kept them all together there instead! (Not at all feasible!)
So Mr P had found a 6 acre field very close by. No stables so no keeping them in and the horses in the next field are out 24/7 aswell.
I’ve been a bit 😫 at the thought of it, I have to take them together which I know means over weight but it’s literally 5/10 minutes and I can’t leave one alone either end. Loading will be fine as they are very settled where they are. Unloading alone the other end was making me feel a bit queasy! As soon as the first comes off the second will loose his mind.
Mr P had said he’d help but I couldn’t really see that working without him getting his head kicked off.
A friend was on standby but my daughter has got the day off work so she will grab one.
It’s literally a field, no facilities or storage at all but they have had their feet and teeth done last week and I’ve got my little van to ferry hay and feed so it’s not a problem really.

I *think it’s the right move for them.
It will definitely massively save time for me and in the long term they are not in work so surely better out.
I’ll be very glad when today is over though!!

Any chance of loading the mind-loser last, so he is first one off? Hope it goes well.
That would be the obvious yes except my lorry shape means the big horse really needs to be on first.
It’s a crew cab and the rear seats take up horse space so the horses are further back than in a normal 3.5 lorry. It means I don’t really have any storage at the back
This means to unload a horse on the outside their head and neck are past the opening and they have to bend round. Easy for a small horse, step back and out but I did once get one a bit stuck as it hadn’t occurred to me it could be a problem! Admittedly it was a old stiff and bigger horse but was bit of a panic for a while 😬

Good luck for today! I hope it all goes smoothly and they appreciate what you've given up for their happiness :)

I'd say just unload as quickly as possible, so you aren't faffing with catches etc for too long once you start. Would the stressy one have a bucket with a bit of chaff in to take his mind off things while he's waiting?

Job done. They travelled beautifully, they always do to be fair.
I was glad to have my daughter as they did come off like bulls 😂
We did pop it on the weigh bridge on the way- any guesses?
16hh TB 16.1 trotter lW type Mr P and myself. Lorry is old!
Turned out with much snorting and galloping round like lunatics.
Have cleared all my stuff from the old place so now need to sort and put that away.

Successful so far! Will go back and check them in a bit.
