I always think it takes horses a while to settle with a new owner, but what about a new yard ?
My warmblood has arthritis and currently being treated but my vet advised he is moved to a place with better facilities so we can maintain a better exercise regime, Also with him suffering from cellulitis last year she thinks he should be on a drier yard to avoid it
I have found a local yard however we are also looking to move away from the area, so my thought was to move him over the summer so we could at least have a nice summer of hacking etc together and even by then we might not have secured a house to move to.
My other couple of worries are, he would be on this new yard with one other horse,(its a farm with sections of stables and grazing) is he going to pair bond with it and be a complete pain to manage
Hes pair bonded with my companion to some extent, she really doesnt care lol but he gets extremely upset if shes taken from him but he can be taken from her without issue. I cant take them both due to cost so she will have to stay on her current grazing.
Ive bene looking for a while now and this is the first yard with decent stabling thats close to me and with nice people, hmmmm some people say I think too much, they are probably right !
