Moving loan horses to new yards

Purely hypothetical (as usual) at the moment but there is a reason behind it.....

Those of you who loan your horses out and they've moved them to a different yard...if the loaner wanted to move them again would you be happy with this?

I am potentially looking to move house and it would mean moving yards. Haven't had the loan horse for long, I know the owner doesn't want her back, and I would want to take her with me. My pony is out on loan and, provided i'd checked the yard the loaner wanted to move to should they move again, I wouldnt have a problem with him moving again.
 
I dont see why it should be an issue as long as the owner has full information and warning and the chance to check the new yard if they wanted then, surley could be ok, but if you dont ask you dotn know, wouldnt worry me if i was the owner as long as i knew all the details and was not a millon miles away etc
 
I think you need to ask the owner and it is only polite to do so.

I know when I put a horse out on loan I had a detailed contract drawn up and one of the clauses was that they could not move to a new yard without my permission, that way, in theory, I would know where my horse was, if not they were in breach of contract.
 
I can't see an issue unless she wanted the horse to be nearby and the new one is miles away.

As long as you ask well in advance for permission (so he/she can have a look at the new yard if they wish) and ensure they have all the contact details I imagine it would be fine.
 
Yes I would always ask the owner beforehand not just because it is polite but also because on the contract I sorted out for the loan it actually states the yard where the horse is to be kept. Therefore moving without asking owners permission would be a breach of my contract in my eyes anyway.
However I have discussed moving with the owner and she has said she trusts my judgement 100% which was really nice. However I would still ask if I did move and also offer her the chance to inspect the yard before I did.
Although if I moved area ie house and all that then I don't know if the situation would be different as I have plans to move away from Stoke area when my daughter is old enough and there are no 'school' issues to think of. Whether Doug will still be with me then I don't know as he is 16 and no-one knows what is around the corner although I do hope he is still with us.
I think it would be a case of crossing that bridge when we came to it though but I would discuss it very openly with the owner and would not go against her wishes.

Generally as long as you keep the owner informed so they know where the horse is, they know you aren't just being awkward by moving (or being kicked out by the yard owner for not looking after the horse properly!) and give them chance to check out the yard themselves, I think most people would understand you moving yards if you are moving house.
