Hi all

Any advice or tips that people have who have moved from DIY to full livery would be appreciated! E.g., what if I don't want her to be fed the standard feed provided on the full livery? Will they choose which rugs to put her in, or should I be instructing them on this? Will they be ok if asked to take hoof boots/ turnout boots etc on and off for turnout? Is it ok if I happen to be up at the yard at a certain time if I decide to bring her in/ turn her out myself? Do they need notifying of this? Will they administer medicines in feed if needed? Will they be present for vet/ farrier visits if I'm at work?

These are all things you need to discuss with the yard prior to any arrangement to move there.

Hi Amymay. Considering my original post mentioned one of my horses recently dying, my other horse struggling to settle on DIY after their death and me experiencing family turbulence I can only assume that your answer suggests you have the emotional intelligence of a house brick. I mentioned in my post that I knew I could ask my YO some of the specific questions, but was really just after some advice and support from those who had experienced similar. Thanks for making me feel like a fool for wrongly thinking that this forum was a place where people could seek moral support and reassurance during difficult times with our horses.

I didn't see the original post, but from what @Amymay has put in her post I certainly don't think she comes across as insensitive or un-supportive. The questions of yours that she quoted in her reply are issues that vary greatly between yards, so anyone telling you what there yard does is unlikely to be of use to you.

It sounds as though you have had a very difficult time lately loosing your horse and having another one struggle to settle. I hope that you situation improves and that you enjoy your new yard. Hopefully the yard owner's answer to your questions will be what you were after, and that you and your horse enjoy your time there.
