I'm new so hiiiii, been lurking for a while!
My pony who is 21 has been on loan to a equine college for the last year. She's been used to being stabled for the majority of the week and then going out at weekends and summer nights.
Before she went to the college she was on DIY livery and she was out all day and in at night.
She's coming home 'yaaaaayyyy!'
I want somewhere for her to spend her remaining days so was looking for the perfect place.
I found somewhere that seems ideal. It's 24/7 turnout with a group of over 20s they rotate the fields and there's natural shelter in the summer field and wooden shelters in the winter. It's a field version of full livery so yard clear field of droppings, put hay out, bring in for trimming etc so all I have to do is the lovely stuff. I'm worried I may miss the care side as I've always been on DIY but with a busy busy busy home and work life it will be lovely to go up there whenever I fancy and not have to think about turnout or being in times. DIY is just not doable for me at the moment. There's a large indoor and outdoor school, beautiful quiet hacking and a nice place to sit with a cup of tea.
So the thing I am considering (read worrying about) is will she settle into 24/7 turnout all year after 21 years of having a stable?
The yard also does full livery but it is eye wateringly expensive and so having her there on full Iivery is just not an option if I still want to eat.
My worry is I'll move her there she won't settle to the 24/7 turnout and I'll have to move her to a different (cheaper!) full livery yard. It's such a lovely yard, in a fab location and I really like the idea of turnout. So, will she cope? Am I babying a 21 year old tough cookie and worrying far too much?
Success stories very very welcomed :)

Sorry for my ramblings there's so many words here and I know I could say it in a lot less!
