Moving to new yard.....plan?

Moving my boy to a new yard next thurs/fri and not sure what to do when i get there, i have only moved him once before from a small yard (4 horses) to another small yard this yard has about 40 horses, should i turn him out as done previous to get some horse pals or leave him in to get used to new enviroment???

Yard has different fields for turn out wont stick him out with 40 lol

he is a bit of a fairy and doesn't travel well also does't like being in himself so not sure what to do???

ALL/ANY help appreciated :)
 
Do you know if the new yard require him to be wormed when you arrive?
Every yard I have moved to have and horse has stayed in till the next day.

Doesn't your horse have to be quarantined for the first few days and wormed before turnout ?

If so and after that, I'd put him in a field next to the horses he will be turned out with for 5 days, then put him in with them, you could put a rug on and turnout boots as a precaution
 
Yeah he needs to stay in and get wormed the first night was meaning after that, sorry wasn't very clear in first post.

Their is a field next to where he will be so will ask if he can go out there to start with thanks :)
 
See if you can hack out with some of the horses he will be going out with. I find that this gives them a chance to be in each other's space and have a sniff of each other with you on top controlling it..
 
mine has just moved to a new yard and is in a massive field with 14? other horses... shes still managaed to get kicked :(

they just need to learn to get on with it - they are herd animals - they will sort themselves out :)
