Moving to South Lancs Area, Help Please

I'm going to be starting a new job at the end of July and I will be looking to bring the pone over with me possibly in September when I've settled in.

Ideally I'm going to be looking for a yard some where between my M-i-Ls and work (therefore somewhere in a triangle between Chorley, Rainford and Billinge). Assisted DIY or P/L, good safe hacking, arena and individual turnout are necessities. The pone is very dominant and kicks and I don't want any potential grief from owners of broken pones :( .

I'm also going to be needing help finding a good vet, farrier and instructor - can anybody help point me in the right direction please with recommendations, or even those to avoid (PM if you prefer)? Sorry, I'm not asking for much am I :o

Adlingtons equine vets or guillivers they also have a farrier who is great . As for yards best thing is to drive about and get door knocking. Or Google. Our main horsey shop is in leyland to get feed ect called oakfield. Should be a few more people to help you am in a rush :-) hope this helps
 
Well I can recommend Gillivervet, I've been with them for a very long time, and they're based near chorley.

Not sure if charity farm would be too far for you (its about 5 mins from junction 27).

I've never been stabled there myself, but know of people that have been on their for years, they've got plenty of turnout and will do individual paddocks if required.

Can't help but just to reassure you that you are moving to a great horsey area with LOADS of competition, hunting, etc I'm a bit further down the road from you but drag hunt nearer your area. Good luck with the new job.
 
Have a look at merseyhorse website for livery ads etc. My vet is Steven Orrell, used by quite a few around me. There are quite a few yards within the area you are looking at, although not sure who offers individual turnout. If you are in the area, there are often ads up on the boards outside derby house and inside robinsons as I guess not every one is on the net.
 
Ditto what someone else said, you are moving to a VERY horsey county, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding everything you're looking for :-) I'm on my bb so shall post in more detail later, but very exciting, you'll love it! X
 
I saw an advert fo that area. I'll see if i can find it. Oak field, derby house and robinsons have advertising boards.

Robinsons would be worth a look for that area

Thanks everybody, it's appreciated :cool: . I'm feeling much less stressed about the move now and looking forwards to being able to get out and do more. I'd probably be flayed alive if I were to admit on Mumsnet that it was less daunting for me getting the boys accepted into a new school than it is to find a new livery yard and build up new horsey contacts all over again. :eek::D
