Hi, I am moving my horse on Saturday to a new yard about 10 mins away. The yard we are going to is slightly smaller than where we are now and she will have daily turnout. She is a shire x so quite chilled out for a big girl. Being my 1st horse I have never done a move before. My plan was to move her give her some TLC then pop her in the field for a bit (I will stay with her a while), and then I will go and get her bed sorted and unpack. She will be stabled at night which she is used to at the moment. I was planning in doing ground work with her Sunday and let her in the field for a bit and look at riding her Monday. I do shift work so I will be relying in assistance when needed. Has anyone got any advice about settling in your horse to a new yard?

Get everything ready before you move your horse. So get all your stuff in the car and drive there, make the bed, hang a net, fill a bucket of water etc. Get your feed sorted and all your stuff put away. Check the field she will be going into, check water, fencing, anything that shouldn't be there move it out. Then take the horse there and put her in the field. Keep as close to your normal routine as possible, so bring her in at that same time and all should be well.

Good luck!! We are moving on Sunday. I've got everything sorted out and in my stable ready to shove in the lorry. Pie is going in my friebd's trailer along with her horse.
The plan when we get to the new yard is let them have a little look around their new stables then pop them in the field, supervise them for a little while then unpack, popping up now and then to make sure they are ok.
We are going to be wintering out so will be the same routine of me appearing with a torch after work to feed. Difference is we have an indoor now so he will have to work for a living.
I guess the key thing is take it at your own pace depending on how settled your horse is.
Good luck, I hope it goes well
