One of our local ex-MPs had the tip of her finger bitten off (presumably when poking her finger through a letter box) recently.

So she has set up these forms that you can fill in to say that there is a dog on your property. Then you hand the form in at the PO and they issue you with stickers that you place on your letterbox to warn people.

Excellent.....

So hubby filled said form in that he picked up from the wall of the PO and took it to the desk to hand in.......

The guy behind the counter looked blank and knew nothing about it all.

I won't hold my breath for those stickers then.....

I have a 'beware of the dogs - please close the gate' sign on my front gate. Ever since the system round here changed so that we don't have the same wonderful post lady any more but a different one every single day, the gate has been left open Every. Single. Time.

I don't hold out much hope for the stickers, even if you can get hold of them!

ETA: My dogs pose no danger to anyone and couldn't care less about fingers coming through the letterbox, I just want the gate closed as an extra measure of security between them and the busy road. And because it looks tidy. :o

ETA PS: Despite the large and clear 'private property - no public right of way' sign on my yard gate I found a throng of walkers about to enter the yard the other day. They were looking for a footpath some 100ft in the other direction (not one of them had an accurate map). People are idiots and don't obey signs.
