The Equine charities are asking everyone who is able to to support them by contacting their MP and asking them to attend the discussion on Fly Grazing in England to beheld at Westminster next Tuesday, 26th November.

There are links to use a standard prepared email letter on Redwings, RSPCA etc, which you can customise with your own views and name etc.
I am hopeless at posting links can someone do this, we so often discuss the equine crisis on this forum and it is a chance for us to let our MP's know our views

.Thanks.

See above, Hope this link works. If enough people email their MPs this weekend it will start to get the equine crisis debated in parliament, which is the only way to raise the profile of the issue.
More details on Redwings and WHW Facebook, twitter etc.

Please support the equine charities in their effort to improve the current crisis, and contact your MP.

I have sent mine and have badgered every animal lover I know to do the same.

Really important everyone takes two minutes to do this...

Thanks, I think it is important as well and have asked friends and family to do same.
Just feel when equine charities are working so hard it is something we can do to support them.

Agree. And everyone is so quick to slag of the charities especially the RSPCA but the law sometimes isn't on their side and their hands are tied. That's where we have to come in and try to make a difference. It is a major problem in my area :(

I have done this too. I don't think my MP is particularly knowledgeable on the subject but I know one of the neighbouring MPs has been quite vocal on (often unsafe) tethering so if this prompts mine to talk about the issues with him, at least it will have achieved something!

Have emailed my MP. My MP is actually pretty good, he campaigns a lot and attends many debates. He seems to v environmentally conscious and active on a lot of issues that are important to me. We get a lot of problems in this area with traveller's horses being tethered at the side of the road so hopefully my MP will get involved with this debate too.

OK, now seriously impressed with my MP who has replied within minutes of the email and clearly does know about the issue, has told me what action he has already taken, said he will try to attend the debate and, whether he does or not, will continue to push for action. I am now glad I made the effort and hope others will too.

Thanks everyone, Redwings site says 1000 requests so far sent to MP's, but more are needed.

There is an article in the news section of Horse & Hound now if you want more information.

The proposal is to be similar to welsh law, powers for the removal of unattended horses or ponies.

Bumping to ask those who are concerned about the horse crisis to email your MP.

The link will select your MP for you and give you a prepared email.

More info on equine charity pages and news item in H&H this week.
