Well, he's here, and he is a superstar. After a flight on Pet Airways (pet-only flight in their own cabin) he arrived in NYC this evening at 6pm. After a brief hello with Stella, we drove back to the city and took a good walk. Despite being obese, he's a great walker, and the sights and sounds of the city don't seem to bother him in the slightest (well, apart from piles of bin bags--you don't get many of those in Florida). There was plenty of butt sniffing during the walk, and then Stella got him to chase her around the apartment when we got back. When he got too excited and barked, she growled, and he backed off right away. In fact, he completely ignores dogs that bark on the street, and is quite the laid-back little dude.

Two things:

I am so glad my no-pull harness arrives in the post tomorrow. He starts obedience classes next week, but until then, my arms will be thankful.

He smells funky, so it'll be bath time tomorrow, followed by his first trip to the park

A very grainy walking snap from this evening:

I'm over the moon. He is such a good boy. I feel very lucky to have two awesome dogs

Tomorrow I'll be taking them to the park, so plenty of snaps.

He starts obedience classes next week, and I believe he has zero recall right now. He doesn't even know sit

Ahh, Stella has a boyfriend, how cool are they.

Yes, I believe Victoria Beckham used one this week to get her new bulldog puppy across the atlantic.

Wow......talk about travelling in style Mr Prince!

So glad he's arrived. What an exciting time for all of you. Looking forward to more piccies.

I just love the glamour of it all - who knew pets had their own airline?

Dogs are allowed to fly in the cabin on US domestic flights, provided they fit into the largest Sherpa bag (weight: 22lb and under). Prince was too large, and I was reluctant to have him fly in the cargo. And then the decision was made for us, as the two airlines that fly out of this part of Florida only occasionally fly pets in the cargo. So we found out about Pet Airlines, and it was $150 for a one-way ticket. Not bad at all, I think, and better than a 24-hour drive there and back!

Day two and as far as I can see his only behavioural fault is barking/whining when you're eating. Other than that, he is non-aggressive and quite happy to meet strangers/other dogs on the street. Stella is definitely the boss of the relationship
