Builder finally forces travellers off his land... by digging a moat around their illegal camp,

What a fantastic result for creative thinking. These travellers set up an illegal camp on his land and he created an 8ft high fence and then dug a moat around so they couldn't get in or out, they chose to move on before the moat got finished totally cutting them off.

The police said that is not illegal for a landowner to build a barricade on his property, Hooray so if anyone of us has this problem with travellers get your JCB out.

My grandad had a friend who owned a farm near Heathrow. One day travellers appeared on his land, started dumping rubbish and causing a nuisance and refused to go so he got permission to muck spray the land from the air and did so...they soon moved

Ha ha, I LOVE these ideas! Nice to see some are finally taking a stand seeing as councils and police never seem to want to get involved.

Sorry - have to be anal and stick up for the Council's - one local to me 'got involved' and ended up spending over £500,000 on one instance of travellers on private land - a good use of public money???

ETS: The JCB seems to be much better value for money!!

Well yes all good and well if they do but it takes far too long IF they can get them moved (and the travellers know it!) and, as you've pointed out - the cost of doing it! Am sure the money could be used for something better couldn't it.
