Well....... I'm not fully counting my chickens yet but I think he's out of the woods!!!! His heart rate is normal, not sweating, no tremors and seems to have more or less all his gut function back, his weight is about 340kg and he looks healthy, happy and shiny and the vet is very impressed with him! He is ever so slightly tucked up still ... Maybe September he can finally start his work as a riding pony! So I guess what I'm trying to say is .... We have become a success story!!! Thankyou so much to everyone for your support! Especially to QueenBee and Gullys owner ( I've forgot your username) but Gullys diary provided me with a lot of inspiration in the darker times. :) xx

Mr Velvet, this is wonderful news !
When I first saw the title of your thread, my heart sank. I lost my 5 year old pony mare and her newborn foal to GS last April.

It's so good to hear of a successful recovery, especially after the devastation of losing 2 to this awful disease.

Well done ! :D

Little wild one - it truly is a horrific disease, not fair at all! Sorry to hear of your loss' I am so grateful that we had it quite mildly. Its been the worst 60 odd days of my life!

Brighteyes/horsesforever1- thankyou!!! And hopeful, I am!

Some of you may know, I lost my mare to GS this year, great to hear a happy story.

FAB!

In my time in North Yorkshire, I met about 10 EGS cases in a small area over a small time. Only knew of one who survived and the owner nursed him beyond belief! A truly horrific mysterious and yet fascinating disease that I hope we solve one day.

Good Luck and tell the EGS research trust about it.
