MRI question

My horse is going in for an MRI of his left fore on Monday. He was referred last Monday after my vet came and took x rays etc. He is shod all round but my vet told me to remove his front shoes in preparation for the scan. Just looked at the admittance notes from Liphook and they said if horse is shod leave shoes on? I’m now worried as it’s too late to get the shoes put back on. I know he needs them off for the scan but looks like they want to see them with shoes on first. Anybody know if it will be detrimental to the results etc. If I present an unshod horse that is usually shod??? Thanks

They may want to do a few nerve blocks first andwould prefer to see the horse as it normally is but if they have already been done there should be no need to run more tests so having the shoes off will be fine, it will have no bearing on the MRI although they may take xrays to ensure no bits of nail have been left as they will damage the machine.

^^^ This, and I think the vet will just be doing you a favour as the farrier is cheap to remove shoes, but in the past I have been charged a small fortune for the vet to do so! If I had known I would have removed them myself!
