I have got my mri results today, he has a tear in the ddft near the navicular bursar, going to see vet on Monday to discuss options. Anyone with any experience/help?

Yes I have, but with a front leg. My treatment regime was wedge shoes, box rest, hand walking, ridden but stabled - all road work, not in school. Wedges were lowered over a period of time and were replaced with egg bar shoes. My horse had her navicular bursa medicated, it lasted 3 months and had to be re-done, she has been ok ever since. She was turned out in the Spring and ridden and recovered from this injury though the initial prognosis was poor....

Not everyone goes down this route but I followed the advice of my treating Vet who is a very well known and respected lameness expert. He was spot on with his diagnosis and treatment plan and my horse is fine. She now lives out and is in ordinary shoes, is ridden and a very healthy horse.

Izzwizz, how old is your horse?

She is now 17, was 14 when it happened. She is Hanoverian/TB just so you can picture and stands at 16.1. I cam't remember the exact location of the tear but it was deep in the foot, where it starts I think. I also don't remember the size of the tear but it was substantial.

Had a chat with the vet, going to do remedial shoeing/tildren and cartrophen/six months rest and see whats what. Now the next question is, do i get something on loan to ride or just beg/borrow rides from people i know?!
