I have a horse who has been diagnosed with arthritis in his knee. I feed him a joint supplement already but it doesn't include msm and I was wondering whether I should add this to his diet.

I have been reading up on it and it says that MSM 'is sulphur in it’s organic form as found in the horse’s natural diet (including grass and trees), but is largely driven off by the processing of hard feed and preserved forage. Therefore the diet of the stabled horse is likely to be deficient in this most important of nutrients'. (NAF website).

Now, he lives out at the moment and even when I bring him in for the night he will be out for as long as possible during the day - so the question is, do I need it? Or do I just need it for the winter when I start bringing in?

Thank you in advance! :)

I changed to a joint supplement which didn't include MSM but as it had been in the previous supplement, I decided to carry on feeding it. I bought it from Aviform, around £20 a tub and it lasts for ages. Not sure if it makes a difference, but don't want to chance it!
