After my hair raising ride yesterday I thought long and hard about what the problem might be and decided that it was a combination of not being strict enough for the first 20 minutes and then being too strong with my hand to try and make up for it when things went pear shaped.
so today I started by making sure he always did as I asked as soon as I asked, simple things like going off the leg and coming back too me when I said without being lazy.
WAHOO he was perfect, the canter was amazing instead of tearing round with hardly any steering and being strong. he still needs help holding it all together but I was able to do this with a very light contact and leg and seat
So it seems the bucking was my fault for lousy riding
