I am absolutely fed up with having cold feet in my Hunter Wellies and they also seem to split about every six months on the sole (I wear them constantly!) I have a pair of lovely Tuffa Suffolk boots but don't want to wear them in the mud and don't want them to end up stinking of Horse Wee! I'm looking at getting some of the TAY muck boots but what does everyone think of them? Are they warm> Do they last! And also size wise I have chunky calves (not enormous but pretty muscular!)

Thanks!

The muck boots are made of wetsuit like stuff on the claves so they stretch. I havent a pair myself as I'm not sure just how easy they are to clean and how waterproof....so if anyone knows I'd appreciate knowing!!

I have the just togs mudrucker ones and they are great, waterproof and warm, they also fit around my generous calves!!! Exactly the same as muck boots but cheaper

My hubby has them and loves them.

I went to buy myself some at Derby house but they didn't have any size 5's left

! Clearly popular wellies!

Anyway, I tried some hunters (and agree they felt VERY flimsy, not at all like Hunters used to feel)

I too wear my wellies ALL the time. I told the lady this and she said, well realy you want more than a wellie. She recommend these :

I LOVE them!!!!!!!!! Totally fabby! Really comfy, nice to ride in (hacking and schooling), toasty warm (at the demo last night my feet were fine, but other's were like blocks of ice) but not sweaty at all! (My hubby approves as my sock's level of putridness have seriously dropped!

)

I can't recommend these enough, and well worth the extra stretch for the money

I got muck boots for xmas and i have to say they are fantastic. I get chilblains every year and since having these boots i haven't had a single one. They seem to regulate the temperature as they don't make your feet too hot or too cold. They are stretchy round the calf so should fit most legs sizes. So far they have been completly waterproof and they are easy to clean. xxx

I got the Muck boot Company ones for xmas and they are brilliant. My only peice of advice is only wear a thin pair of socks! I made the mistake of wearing thick socks and my feet sweated and got cold but when I wear thin socks they are like toast! They are the best boots ever! I suffer from cold feet very easily too.

I have the Tyne Muck Boots - the riding version - cost a little more but I don't have to change them to ride in!! They are a little chunky for schooling but fine for hacking or when it's too cold to even think about changing boots!

I bought them at the beginning of the winter and haven't looked back since!

I have huge calves and short legs. The boots are hard from mid calf down and wet-suit material from mid-calf up. They fit just fine - I tend to put my feet in plastic bags before putting on the boots as I wear jeans / trackie bottoms rather than jods.

They have kept my feet nice and warm and dry. Sank in mud almost to the top of the boot the other week - YO was laughing pulling me out as expected boots to stay behind but with the stretchy top they stayed on!

I've got the short muck boots ones, and for Christmas got the very similar Just Togs full length neopreney type wellies.

My little toesies have never been so snug! And they are nice and stretchy and comfy and the more rigid plastic foot bit is a bit of protection against clumsy horses feet on your tootsies, though obviously not like steel toecaps!!!

Wouldn't be without them now - no more hunters etc for me!

ive had my hunters for nearly two years, i wear them everyday and they are still fine! ive got hunter welly socks that i wear in them and my feet are lovely and toasty!!

I have toggi neoprene lined wellies and they are the warmest wellies I've ever had. They were about £30 and worth every penny.

I agree about the hunters, I have so lowther (sp?) wellies which last just as long as hunters!

Muck boots look brilliant when I have the money will buy some

Another vote for the hunter wellie socks...really toasties and full length! Think they were about £12 from Robinsons...bargin!! I forget to take mine off half the time when i'm in the house afterwards they are so warm!!!

Another vote for the Tyne MuckBoots. I bought some on a recommendation, and they are just fantastic - so warm and toasty, easy to clean (brief rinse under the hose) and great for riding in too. I bought mine secondhand on Ebay for £60 or so I think. Only slight downside is that I find them quite hard to get off - have to use a boot pull.

Don't know anything about the Tay ones, but if they have the same rubber/neoprene make-up as the Tynes then they will be just the job for feet that tend to get chilly.

ETS - size-wise they should be ok as the upper neoprene part is quite generous, and stretchy too. I haven't worked mine too hard, but they are secondhand and show no signs of splitting etc.

I have had my muckboots for over 2 years and they are still going strong. They are so warm my hunters used to leak and perish after about 6 months use. IMO they were not good value for money

I have tyne muck boots, they are warm, comfy and waterproof. I had a pair of toggi neoprenes a couple of years ago, they were very warm but I wore through the soles so quickly as I wear wellies all the time. The tynes are great because you dont have to change boots for riding. I will be sticking with hunters for my summer wardrobe, they look muck better wuth cut off jeans.

I also have ‘Muck Boots’, and I absolutely love them! Better then Hunter wellies by far! Get some you will never go back to normal wellies, I promise!

Sorry to buck the trend, but would never buy another pair of muck boots. I have had 2 pairs in 18 months (and didn't wear them all through the summer! so the didn't even get that much wear).

Both pairs split badly at the back. After the first pair went, which the company replaced I really took care of the second pair and only wore them when on the yard (ie didn't drive in them etc) and they still split. They looked at good as new. No wear in them at all.

I also have 3 friends with them and the same thing happened.

Good boots in terms that they keep you dry and warm, but don't last. Sorry!

I got bought some Toggi wanderer esprit wellies. They are amazing - always had hunters up to getting these but never again. The toggi ones keep your feet toasty warm as they are neoprene lined. They were expensive though I think nearly £80 as the have a full zip down the side

I adore my muck boots. Have had a pair for about 4 years and still going strong, but bought a pair with the ridged sole this winter rather than the smooth one (for better grip on icy yard/muddy fields.
They keep my feet really warm.
