I have just had a muck heap removed which had been at the yard for 2 yrs I have only had yard 6 months so inherited it - long story!

Whilst the field is dry we can barrow to the bottom of the field but in winter this is not poss so have to "build" a new muck heap at top of field. I will have this removed again next spring but has anyone any ideas on how to keep it looking neat.

Don't have chickens for a start! They are death to any neat muck heap.

The best way to keep a neat muck heap is to build a three sided retaining wall (wide enough for tractor access for removal) That way you only have one side to keep under control.
