I bought a pair of Muckboot Tynes last November and the back seam is beginning to unstick. I haven't noticed them leaking (although I haven't been standing in any puddles ;) ) but i'm assuming that the seams should be fully stuck and that they will leak if I stand in water for long enough.

So should I try and get a replacement pair? I really like them... comfiest wellies ever!! I have still got the reciept as well. Would it be best contacting the tack shop I bought them from or talking to the muckboot company?

Any one else had problems like this? I haven't even been wearing them that much... Maybe I should ask for my money back and get something different?

Any thoughts appreciated :)
 
I've had three pairs that all split and leaked in a matter of months :mad:

I kept trying them as everyone was raving about how good they were, but I've given up on them now, I stick to Ariat or Le chameau, more pricey but they last longer.
 
Mine have done the same and I only got them in January! When I looked at some threads on here it seems to be a known issue with them, which is a shame as they had done a fantastic job for the few months they were intact :rolleyes: Oh and mine definately leak!
 
Hmm a lot of people seem to have this problem with the Tynes... I have the normal wellie ones.. without the heel... and they last ages... it just seems to be the Tynes...
I would contact the company and try to get a replacement.. worth a try :D
 
You should definitely take them back, sounds like a faulty pair. Take them to the shop you bought them from, it is up to them to take it up with muck boot company. The shop I work in sells muck boots and can honestly say have never had any returned, and theya re very popular.

Ets. Having read above posts, would seem it is the Tynes with the problem, we tend to sell the other boots. I wonder if it is the fact they are being ridden in causing a weakness, regardless of that, if they don't do the job they are designed for, take them back!

Right, looks like a trip back to the tack shop :) Might see if I can exchange them for the non-riding type if that seems to be the main problem, I don't really ride in them anyway.

Just to give you the other side of the story: I've had mine for about two years with no sign of splitting or leaking. I had my previous pair about two and a half years. Having had Hunters, Joules and cheapo wellies from the supermarket as comparison, they are the warmest, best quality wellies I've had and will buy another pair when these give up the ghost. I don't tend to ride in mine but like to have the flexibilty to be able to ride in them so stick with the Tyne's rather that the others. Take them back to the shop and see what they say.
 
That's really unlucky, I'm on my third pair I find they last about 2 years on average and I live in mine all winter. Although they go a bit tatty on the joins and where your leg rubs when riding I've never had a pair leak at all even in the floods. :)
 
I had a pair of derwents that I wore for a couple of years until the tread went, the seams and everything else were still fine.

I now have the avon ones and they are so warm and the grip on them in all the ice we had this winter was fantastic.

my friend has a pair of the tyne ones in brown and has has no problem with them
 
How funny is that - literally this morning I noticed that the seem was coming away on mine and I notice this thread on the forum this afternoon!! Shame think they really good but only got them at start of January - maybe it's a fault batch of ones made around the same time. I have always had Le Chameau's in the past which were brilliant though they not handy for riding in.
 
I've had a pair of the riding ones for at least 4years and think they are brilliant no problems at all, a friend has had hers for longer and wears them all the time for dog walking and riding and no probs either.
