Horse has moved to a new yard short term (had indoor school so I can actually ride whooo hooo!) and is on paper. I am finding it a bit strange to muck out. I am leaving most of the wet in to form a 'base' and taking out all the muck. Is that what everyone else does??

yeah i used to leave the wet, and muck it out at a weekend when i had time so it didnt get compacted.
i didnt like paper, but was using it as it was free, i found it heavy, and not very warm no matter how much i put in.
suits some people really well though.
good luck with it.

We used to take all the wet out each day, only had one horse on it but it was so heavy and hard to get looking anything like clean.

Woodchip all the way!

I might be odd but I actually like paper bedding. I only put down a light bed (approx 1 1/2 inches) back third of the box on top of rubber matting. It soaks up the wee and it's easy to pick the droppings out of. I take the wet out each day and I can muck out in less than 10 minutes, I don't find it any heavier than shavings but maybe because I use so little?

We alwasy took the wet and the muck out for the RDA horses on it (some had it for breathign issues). Can't imagine it would be nice to (semi-)deep litter on as it gets soggy. But then ours didn't have much as were on rubber too and I hate deep littering anyway.

my boys get a light bed of paper on top of rubber mats, it takes mins to muck out with gloves & a skip & they dont eat it (they eat everything else!!)
i get lots of shredding from a local office block as our local council wont take shredded for recycling but charge for the nn-recycled commercial waste.

I too like paper, we used to take the wet out every other day at work and this worked well, leave it any longer and it gets really heavy/smells. A lovely fluffly and none dusty bed. Hope you get on ok with it.
