So Im absolutely loving using bedmax instaed of straw. My mare is very wet/dirty and the smell of urine was overwhelming!!! When I come home from yard I no longer smell like a walking puddle of pee...hurrah!!!!

So my question is.....

How do u muck yours out? I seem to be going out with loads of dirty stuff as my horse mixes it all together. Is it better to have just a little bedmax in stable and take most of it out everyday or better to make a deep bed and just take the top layer off everyday? We have rubber matting in stable also.

I too love bedmax it does gives most of the benefits of straw without the downsides .
We muck out daily stack the bed against a different wall each day and allow the floor to dry.
We skip out as often as possible .
I put in about six to eight inches deep and bed about twelve feet by eight in size ( mine have mats too.).
I do use quite a lot of bedding it costs me as much as their food in winter I use two bags a week in winter three if the weather is terrible .
But I get great benefits , good feet , good for the wind and yes less smell.
They make a bedding called LittleMax too we have tried mixing this with bedmax for our messier ones it's a bit more absorbent and that works quite well so you could try that , we put a bale of bedmax in then next time LittleMax .

We have deep ish beds and take the wet out once a week. They all have 1 bale in a wk (12x12stables) except a dirty mare, who has to have an extra one in every other wk! We have rubber mats too.

I agree with Goldenstar i use alternate Bedmax and Littlemax as i find it makes the bedding more absorbent. I use a bag of each per week in the winter banking my bed up in the morning to allow the floor to dry and bring it down just before i catch in. Taffy is laminitic so comes in during the day in the summer i get away with a bag a week but still bank it up at night bringing it down in the morning.
