Bruce is semi deep litter.

He gets skipped out every day. If wet is showing that comes out too. Usually about a wheelbarrow.

At the weekends I take out the wet, and pull his banks down to form the base, long with the rest of the clean stuff from the floor.

I then put 2 bales of shavings in - most of which goes in the banks, to be repeated next week.

My bed is clean and White till about wednestday, but never brown.

Total mucking out time

Mon - Fri - 10 mins max

Muck out day - 1/2 hour

You?

thats a useful post i might do the same! at the mo i am mucking out 2 shavings wheelbarrows a day and using 14 bags a month - also have a toddler so mucking out time is short!

Sunday - Fri takes 10 mins just to pick up the poo coz hes deep littered and then Sat he gets a full muck out taking about half hour which is about 2 barrows full and top up with 2 fresh bales. On a full muck out I leave the bed up to air whilst hes out then relay for bed time.

That is what I used to do ChocolateLog, when I was DIY, and my boys bed was always clean and deep and lovely

. Am on part livery just now so it is done for me. They take out all wet along with poo and the bed is nowhere near as good, there isnt a firm base to stop him scraping through to the concrete underneath

.

Benj is on rubber and a full shavings bed.

Normally, i.e. not on box rest, he gets mucked out fully, once a day.
As he is on box rest, he gets mucked out twice daily.

Would love to deep litter, but he tramps around his bed, so sadly not an option!

As ive just back into it and she has her stable again, I am full mucking out each day i.e taking out poo and wee patches, chucking middle up the banks and then relaying again - still looks lovely and clean each day

and takes me about 10mins, just a big rubber bucket full *shavings by the way

My mare is on straw as it comes within the price of livery, and is always available! so i do a full muck out every morning, and it takes m about 45 minutes tops, to muck out and put a new bed down, put hay in, sweep up, feed etc.

Rubber mats, so have square banks at the back and about a 1m x 3m strip of bedding about 2.5cm's thick. this is rully mucked out daily but if shes in due to weather bedding is thrown up in the morning and is repulled down to form the bed at night

i use about 1 bale of shavings every 1 to 2 weeks

full muck out everyday......take out all poo and wet and chuck the banks up the side, take wheelbarrow to muck heap, fill haynets etc etc then put about half a bale of straw in every other day, then re lay the bed with banks.

takes me about 15 minutes

erm well would like to deep litter but my stbales are massive-and my last horse was a bit of a trampler come morning and not tidy either

i now with my old boy have a 3 matts in a square shape up one corner-about ths size of a temporay stable...then have a good sprinkling of shavings-take out wet and poo every day-he is far cleaner though:)

I have a full straw bed on top of rubber mats. I use a shavings fork to lift the piles of poo of the top, and then i move the clean bedding in the very centre to the sides and take the wet straw out from underneath. Pull the clean back down, reshape banks if necessary, flatten bed and sweep the front bit. Takes 5-10 mins max. At the weekend I pull one bank down and replace with new straw.

Axey is on shavings, I normally pick the visible poo up with my marigolds on, then throw the bed up onto the banks so all the little bits of poo roll out onto the floor.
If there's loads of wet in there I'll take it out but I normally leave if not too bad.
I then put bed down and have to anally pick up every single little bit of poo I can see.
Normally takes me about 20 mins, and I put in 1 or 2 bales of shavings a week.

We have to muck out into skips which we then have to lift up onto the muck trailer, I usually get 2 large tub trugs out a day.

I am on full livery Mon-fri so I only do it at weekends! George is on a full straw bed, I take out all the obvious poos and then fork all the clean straw into one corner, take out all the wet (one of those huge barrows full), and then slosh some water down and give the floor a good sweep. I will then leave the bed up as long as possible so the floor drys. I then use the banks to make the middle of the bed and put about 4-5 sections of fresh straw in and rebuild the banks. Takes me about 30mins.

All muck out every day, cant stand it done any other way!
2 new bales a week (tues & fri) per stable, if they are going out I leave the bed up. Takes about 10 mins per horse

Full muck out every day which takes about 10 -15 mins
Shes on rubber matting with a full shavings bed, I remove about a barrow a day and get through 10 bales a month

B is on matting with a thin layer of bedding so I just sweep everything out, toss the banks and leave the mats to dry. Takes abt 5 - 10 mins every day, then put bed down again in evening.

Baron is on a rather large straw bed. I dont turn his banks at all through the winter, they are about 3ft high and 1ft wide and I just add a bit too them and neaten them up each day. The rest of his bed is fully mucked out every day, I throw all the clean up to the front, sweep the floor and put it all back down again. It usually takes about 30mins. He goes through 4bales of straw a week.

He is quite a dirty horse, I will get about 2 barrows a day out. Hes in from about 6pm to 7am and out durning the day.

15/25 mins to pick out poo as he is deep littered, but he is in his bed for 3 hours after coming in before I get up so he makes a mess and its hunt the poo! He is currently not getting the wet taken out weekly, but will be done monthly as he isnt a messy boy. Bed is never brown, but it is never pristine white due to his walking about in it for those 3 hours.

Mine is on mats with straw. Takes me a couple of minutes to muck out, he rarely pees over night, so just take out the couple of poos and check for wet.

I take out wet and poo daily. He gets about 2 bags of woodchips a week (£2 each bag). One big bank at the back.

Takes about 20 mins, I am very fussy!

Ours have a sprinkling of easybed over rubber. I clear the stable every day, and put a bucket ful of easy bed down. Very quick and keeps pretty clean, although it is a bit pngy at this time of year.
