Mucking out methods...how do you do it?

Mucked out fully every day, usually get about 1 wheelbarrow out, go through 8-10 shavings bales a month. Then they are skipped out in the afternoon.

Allthough have to admit he is on 3/4 livery meaning I do him at weekends but he is done for me in week days (strange type of livery I know but very useful!)

Coco has a lovely massive straw bed that's a bout a foot and a half of thick straw and covers almost the whole stable, and proper pony clubesq banks and neatness when I do it

he gets mucked out properly everyday, takes 1/2 an hour to 3/4 of an hour and we use about 4-6 bales a week. I love his bed, and hate it when other people do him differently to me when he has the odd day of full livery! he's a spoilt cob

I skip out in the morning and do a full muck out at night. Morning takes me 2 minutes, evening about 10.

I've heard new mare is very clean so will be looking foward to that

Little pony mare is on a full straw bed with thin mats under, I semi-deep litter her, most days just take the poo out with a shavings fork and have a tidy up of any obvious wet, then lift once a week or so. Takes 5-10 mins in the mornings, then maybe 20mins once a week to do wet. Not sure how much straw she goes through as its large bale straw so take a section whenever looks a bit thin - all included in livery
J is on mats and about a 3/4 normal depth shavings bed which I muck out every morning. I must be luck with my horse as rarely takes more than 10 mins, I throw it all up onto banks then collect all the poo as it rolls down, then lift the wet - usually only one patch and know where he usually wees which is helpful! Barely use a bale a week - I use Bedmax shavings, whichI really like as I find them easier to work with and less dusty than traditional shavings.

Depends on day. If I'm working at the yard will get mucked out once and skipped out once. On the two days I work full days at the office she just gets the full muck out. Horse is in 24/7 now

she's deep littered on miscathus (sp?) - Take out all poo and any wet that has come to the surface, throw all clean bedding to the banks to get down to deep litter layer. Even out deep littered layer so it is flat, add a bit more fresh bedding to replace approx what I took out, pull down banks to make a nice bed and sweep front.

Usually just under 1 wheelbarrow per day - she's fairly clean. Takes between 3 and 10mins depending on how much of a hurry I'm in. I use approx one bale per week.

I do a full muck out every day - takes about 45 minutes and over 2 barrow loads, Jasper is a very dirty boy!!

But I have just order rubber matting which came today, I will put it down at the weekend and see if it makes any difference

Straw - chuck up clean, fork out dirt, disinfect rubber matting, bed back down, sweep. 10 minutes for a dirty bed.
AquaMax - scrape off poos and hay/ haylage and get rid, sweep back clean, even out bed and banks. Wet out when it's soaked (every few days). 5 minutes, 10 for a really mucky one (one horse went hunting today, his bed was atrocious!).
Paper - pick out poos with gloves, fork out wet, even out bed and banks, sweep. This is the only bedding I've had my own horses on, and I'm VERY fussy about having a clean bed so it takes me 20-25 minutes!
The AquaMax is designed to have the wet left in for longer, so that's the only one I leave with wet in. The rest are done properly every day. Or not so properly if I'm in a mega rush!

I am currently experimenting with my messy mare. When she lives out 22 / 7 the bed just stays down and I just skip out. However she has just started to come in at night and she is totally disgusting. She has capped hocks so needs a deep bed so at the moment I am semi deep litering and taking the wet out once a week . I will probably put 1 / 2 bales of shavings in per week. I did try a full deep liter but within 2 / 3 weeks it was wet and brown and really grose. I dug it out last weekend and have been taking 1/2 - 1 trug out per day.
I lift all the clean stuff and throw onto banks then pull it back down over the deep liter. Seahorse then comes in and anally picks up all the small bits of poo that I have missed. The front third of my stable is rubber matted.

Elle's on rubber matting so i get rid of 80% of her bed every day. Really easy, takes 15 mins max to sweep it all out ,spray with disinfectant and sprinkle new shavings down

With the current one, I take the poo out (she's on straw) and any wet on top. Bump the banks up if they're down and put fresh straw on top of the main bed. I take 3 barrows a day out this way. At weekends I do the whole lot properly. She is utterly disgusting, if I do a full muck out every day I can take 5-6 barrows out (she's so wet it's untrue, plus she mushes everything up, pulls the banks down etc - she has plenty of hay so she is not bored or starved or stressed!).

With my Welshy when I had him on shavings I took the poo out daily, sifted through to the wet base, then put the bed back down. Any loose wet on top came off. One to two fresh shavings bales a week, never take the wet base out over winter. On straw I did the full muck out weekly but only needed to take one barrow out a day.

pig-
very mesy and wet in the stable
shes on mats wall to wall and has a square of shavings/sawdust in the corner-usually one bag.she gets the poo taken out each day and the wet once a week.the sawdust seems to concentrate the wet into a very small area so i usually only use 1/4 bale to top up .
takes 3mins to do.

bey-very clean
on mats wall to wall.has 1/2 stable with full bed-sawdust underneath straw-4 bales of the dust and a good layer of straw on top.
poo out each day-about 5mins
take the bed up completely once a month and put fresh sawdust down-usually one bag!

My girl is deep littered all winter. I skip out roughly during the week and give it a good going over on a saturday if ther is a lot of wet then it will be removed. On a Saturday she gets her bale of clean shavings.

Sun-Fri mucking out time 10-15 min
Sat mucking out time 30-45 min

I find this the most cost efficient and time efficient. I have had a straw bed and hated it.

Mine are on self draining rubber matting and about six inches depth of paper with banks.

They are mucked out completely in a morning and a bucket of water tipped under the rubber to 'freshen up' the stable. Droppings are collected at midday and mid afternoon and then they are mucked out fully again at 7pm. Droppings are collected again at 10pm.

I disinfect the stables one a month and remove the mats once a year for a thorough cleaning.
