With the wonderfull weather this country has been getting my field is wet and muddy. I move paddocks round so they are not standing in complete mud but have noticed some mud fever on Tims heel i dry his legs off properly every night and put udder cream on in a morning can anyone recommend any good products for treatment and prevention..

I soak scabs off with hibiscrub but do not drench it. then leave to dry or i gently rub with a soft cloth. I then put a good dollop of sudocrem on and that has cleared it up.( i do this every day). I have heard muddy marvel is good as a barrier.
Hope this helps but everyone seems to have different remedies i don't know if this is due to different bacterias in the mud in different counties though.

I bought the equi boots for my girls a few years back... very tight neoprene turn out ones that go down to the bottom of the heels, ... they worked, but were more trouble getting them on and off than was worth the effort !

Sudocream for clear up .... mixed views on vasoline .. some say it holds the infection in, some say it helps the scabs fall off ... back to the same old ..."depends on the horse" thing again...

Here's wishing you a mud fever free winter !
