Curse this bloody weather.

I always brush mud off gently when it's dry, never hose his legs because he wont let me. Didn't notice anything on monday when I was grooming, then yesterday he wouldn't let me lift his hoof and then I noticed he has 2 small spots on his left hind. Bless his wee socks :(

I'm fed up! Packing up and moving some where sunny! (I wish)

My boy has never had it but found a couple of patches starting during the last wet spell.
A big thankyou to Sudocrem :D

he's got 2 white socks on the back!

Poor wee popit, I hibiscrubb'd both legs, picked the 2 wee scabs off the left, dried them and sapped sudacream on the scabby one.

The feilds are just not getting a chance to dry out before we're getting more rain!

Hoping for an indian summer?? lol wishful thinking perhaps?

mine too, no white legs! all four legs now developed into cellulitis, never had it before and all legs like puddings.

I always bring our wee fella in at night, mostly to get him off the grass (sec a)
Feet are always cleaned as last winter he got a little bit of thrush in one of his hooves so I have a little routine of cleaning with soapy water and drying them off after he's been worked rather than just picking out so I can take action quickly if needed. Couln't see any MF on his fronts but might do the same just to be on the safe side as he was alittle reluctant to lift his fronts but I thought it might of been that he didn't want to lift them as it would mean putting more weight on the hind.

Totally p'd right off! Poor babies :(

My hanovarian x mare had it too :-( First time ever on all 4 legs, her 2 fronts which are black and her 2 hinds which have 2 small socks. Have been cleaning them and putting lincoln muddy buddy ointment on, which seems to be helping. It has cleared up on her fronts, but her backs were worse. They seem to be improving, going to purchase some pig oil and sulphur this weekend. It is a pain but every morning when i have been down for a few weeks the grass has been wet :-(

use keratex mud fever powder! its brilliant! only apply to clean dry legs its waterproof it will get rid of any existing scabs and then acts as a preventer!

My big horse has it. He always gets it in winter but this summer it's been awful. The problem with him is that he starts with one tiny scab and the next day it's morphed into cracked, bleeding heels. Overnight, quite literally. I've tried everything over the years and this summer I bought Muddy Marvel... AMAZING. The cracked heels healed overnight, all of the scabs (there were loads) fell off within a few days, the skin has healed and the hair is growing back. It's expensive but worth it. I also use it as a barrier when he's turned out.
