My horse has mud fever in one leg (back) I have not had a horse with mud fever and would relly like help in sorting it out and whats best to use to sort it out. thank you.

my only advice is do not hose the legs buy some tescos own brand nappy cream slap it on in copious amounts before turnout and put any kind of oil (vegetable, olive?? anything ) over the top to create a water barrier. take in at night to a straw bed this is what my old boss had me do and i still do it. its a great cheap preventitive, if your horse has scabs just now put the cream on one night really rub it in it will soften the scabs leave on and next day scabs come off easier then start the process good luck x

I usually hibi scrub then sudcream if there is mudfever. But I try my hardest to avoid it so mine get their legs washed everytime they come in from the field without fail

thank you both i have slaped aload of sudcream on tonight ready for me to pick tomoz after work mind. hard hat will be worn.. will let you know if she was good or i have sore head....lol she is in at night , but the rain we had now iced must have got it even if i was cleaning her legs and mud off. oooo more shopping to get more sudcream...thank you both :0)

,wait till completely dry and then smother in sudocrem!

Has anyone used equi chaps & if so, would you put barrier cream or anything else under the chaps? are they waterproof?
