hi,
i moved my yearling to new fields just last friday and i have seen him eveyday but not probably since sunday now i feed him over fence and and seen him few times aday but this week has been mental and didnt get my normal everyday 100% chack round him apart from quick look and feed, but today i was in with him and just given him the normal 100% check over when i noticed each foot had just above cornet and below bone a hand size of small scabs on back feet too. now hair covers it well and he is a clean legged horse so no feather but just his nromal hair covers not to bad, but i was feeling all over him as i would normally incase bumps ect, how did this happen so quickly in a few days.
well have never had mud fever, but read on here what to do, love this forum, anyway washed all feet in antibaterial wash, dry scabs of as much as i could as they looked like just formed so was actually hard and smelly. but dry him all over them rubbed sudo cream all over it on each leg. just where you would lift a horse leg to clean foot that place on each leg has it and back of heels on back feet. he has all white legs and has never had this before, is he going to be prone to this now. i have taken him out of that field and moved him back to where he was.
anything to do, also how often do i do this, i just caught it in time i hope, will he lose hair. also have to ad he was so good, a real wee gentleman, he actually love the attention apart from the 1st sting of wash but was grand and was smelling the bottle. any more info please advise. thanks
