I am very lucky in that my field has no mud!! But each year my horse gets a couple of mud fever patches on his back white sock. I have tended to leave it alone as as soon as spring arrives it disappears. Early this year I tried to clean it up as we were showing and unfortunately as soon as I picked scabs off, despite throughly cleaning it, it got infected. Vet out, antibiotics etc. He has it again now and was wondering whether you would do as usual and just leave it, although it must be sore underneath scab, or risk trying to get rid. He is currently having a few weeks off after busy competion season and im recovering from operation so would this be ideal time to try? Have got hibi scrub and also a product that you spray on when clean that helps heal the affected skin. Can't remember what it's called!!
