Knee deep in mud!
Visit site
These pics are my fields at the moment, the horse is playing in the water pit (to practise getting the horses through water) it never usually gets more than half full before it drains away! He stands in there for ages pawing at the water, when I first got him he wouldn't go through a puddle!

This is what it is like living on clay soil

Any pics of your horses out in the mud/floods?

Bless him! Nice to see a horsey enjoying himself!

My land is also clay, but the field they're in at the mo is on a side of a hill so tends to drain quite well, whereas the other one is just a bog!

Pmsl...but would he have gone through that if you were sat on top and asked him too

No pics, but our normally well draining field is holding water in all the divots - it's sloping and normally even after heavy rain about 80% of the ground is firm - we still have grass not mud except for gateways etc, but it squelches!

Not a very good pic of one of the gateways between our fields taken a couple of weeks ago. Its worse than this now

Its thicker, deeper and has spread further into each field now

hahah mine does this to. gateway is totally flooded. left the monster out by himself while my mum was riding- mum went to put other horse back in and got drenched by Kali sitting in the gateway pawing it and splashing it all over her- now thats pony comedy!! was wetting myself!!

and yes, he hates puddles and would never dream of going through one if i was on his back!!

Yuck - yep your mud is the same as ours, the horses have turned into hippos, it's raining again now outside, I can hear it on the windows - it will be a lot worse again tomorrow

The horse in the pic now goes through puddles and water, I got him over his phobia, he has no choice really living here

We have thick mud and the three mini shetlands roll in it every day. They've taught the trick to our new Irish Draught foal. She was pristine when she arrived two weeks ago but is now a mud muppet. And it is only the beginning of December....

My field gateway is the same as yours ElliesMum and Che rolls in it, every day

I have tried walking him further into the field before I let go but the little love turns back round and waits till Ive turned my back, then does it!!

We have no mud!
Our fields are on sandy soil on top of a hill, gateways and around troughs are still mud free

Also on sand, can still walk out in field in work shoes!
However, I did do 8 years on heavy clay *shudders at the memory of it*

Love that horsey in the water - what a character!

That was either last week or the week before. It's not got much worse. The fenceline pacer who lives out 24/7 (and is responsible for most of that churning up in the first place) has been moved into another field and my 2 are only out during the day, so it is getting quite a lot of rest now. Just need a dry spell... Chance would be a fine thing!!!
