Hi guys,

So my big pansy TB has got mud fever AGAIN after going out in pig oil for a few hours over 2 days. He's sore and puffy bless him. He's now in and I've out my trusty fungatrol on him which I know will workin 2/3 days. Anyway, someone at my yard with a mud fever prone white Arab swears by MUD GUARD by NAF....she does nothing to her Arab, doesn't even brush him off and he's been out everyday whilst my poor boy was recovering from the last bought...and he's got NO mud fever??

Anyone tried and tested??

I think it's definitely helped my horses - I did use Global Herbs Mud-X but my feed merchant struggled to get the liquid version and the horses didn't eat the powder so swapped to NAF. I still use a barrier cream when they go out but haven't had anything other than the odd very small scab this winter which tbh may not even be mud fever as they've healed very quickly and not spread.

I am just on to my second pot when I ran out for a few days the mud fever returned so I'm guessing it does work. I would give it a try.

Hi

I have used it this winter after my horse got mud fever on her back legs. I stopped for 2-3 weeks as she didnt like the taste and I used formula for feet hoping that some of the active incredients would be the same. The mud fever came back and on front legs this time too so I have started using it again so yes I think it works. I avoid washing the legs and use a barrier cream.

You may need something to disguise the taste if your horse it fussy! At £40 a tub you want them to eat it!

Good luck

Another vote for the NAF Mudgard cream. My tb has it put on his white heels every few days and is never washed off only brushed when dry. He is surviving the muddiest west country winter ever with no trace of mud fever.

I feed mine NAF Mudguard and don't wash off or apply other creams and it is fab. I gave tried other cheaper ones to save money but they didn't work.

I do wish I knew what the secret magic scab busting ingredient was so that I could just feed that separately.
