Sweet Jesus, will this rain never end??

My fields look more like they do in November. Just mud everywhere!

I'm going to have to turn my girls out in the school for a couple of days as the paddock they are in is getting trashed.

Beginning to think we aren't getting a summer up here in the North this year. ?

I've been singing the praises of my new horse and how clean she likes to stay ... No ....total and utter mud monster yesterday, she was caked head to toe!

Summers nearly over BTW, spring is the new summer, we're rolling into Autumn now ;)

The ground is shockingly wet here. We have had to close off a gateway from one field into another, both because the gateway is deep and the closed off field was getting churned up. This means that the 'track' isn't set up properly as we have had to provide water in the open field and put their hay up there too.

My field has puddles in it this morning. No mud, but a of standing water.

I even hacked in the rain last night! It wasn’t too bad actually, despite the fact that I’m a total fair weather rider normally. Millie was a bit shocked at first but then quite enjoyed herself!

Last night was atrocious in Yorkshire (again), we have standing water in some fields sadly. It's easing a bit if the forecast is right but sympathy to everyone.

Harvests will be tough in this and a second quality hay cut tricky too.

The weather is coming in extremes - Feb was highest rainfall on record for our area, then bone dry and rock hard weeks later followed by constant rain in the last three weeks. Sadly the change in the jet and golf stream caused by changes in the oceans will mean we jut have to get used to strange weather and be prepared to cope with anything.

I'll swap you! It's rained a bit here over the last week but nowhere near enough to make up for how dry the past few months have been. The ground is still like concrete and the grass is coming back really slowly in my winter field :(

Usually I take the beds up in the stables in the summer as they are rarely used, but ive been stabling overnight 3 or 4 times a week as the weather has been so wet and windy. Don't ever remember gale force winds in July before!

I think im going to have to fence off a couple of gateways, the mud is halfway up the mini shetlands legs and I'm starting to worry about mud fever and thrushy feet.

It was horrid here yesterday. I usually only have day beds down at this time of year - fine for standing in for a couple of hours, but not enough bedding for overnight. My shavings stock had run right down, as I have not been making my usual trips to the feed merchant because of CV19.

A very guilty me had one ned in last night on a decent bed, one on a thin bed and one out, having used up my last bales. Have been for my first trip out in a vehicle since lockdown today, and picked up 20 bales of shavings.

Three deep comfy beds are now all prepared for use as required. I hope that I sleep better tonight, too, I was worrying about them last night.

We're not getting as much down South but loving it! Yes we do have a bit of mud but finally some give in the ground and hopefully the grass will get going again. Forecast next week looks good.

I want to live somewhere where it rains from 11pm to 5am 3 times a week but not 3 nights in succession and the days are a comfortable 19-22 degrees with a light breeze 365 days a year :p

This is my dream! Seasonal weather is overrated.

Everything's soaking here, horse is OK as the yard is on good land which drains well. The house is suffering though, there are damp patches showing on the bedroom wall, water's coming in through the bits which need repointing downstairs (which we can't do until it stops goddamn raining), and the back wall of the square garage looks like it has a very fashionable indoor waterfall installation. There are a few dry days forecast this weekend so we'll be furiously doing DIY!

I'm actually going to have to have get a rug for my mini shetland. Never thought I'd need one for her but she's shivering so much I have to keep bringing her in or giving her more hay than she should really be having.
