Just been looking at the other thread about dirty terriers - we have four, but what I would really like is a mat they can walk over and the dirty footprints are gone!

Have seen the ads for these mats - do they really work?

They are good but you need a large one so all feet get wiped. I use them in the house and have cheap seconds for the kennels so dogs coming in from their runs don't soil their bedding. Try splendidpets.com but a standard washing machine will only take a 5x3.

Yes, I use them, they are great. the paw marks dry quickly and you can just give the mat a shake. Otherwise they can go in the machine on a short wash and they dry in no time. I keep a couple of spares to interchange.

mine didnt work really, or my dogs were too light to leave the mud behind. I could see it working with heavier slower dogs where the paws were in contact with the mat for longer, but mine went over and walked mud on the floor.

I have got some but the lurchers still seem to have wet paws when they have walked over them. A heavy duty beach towel folded in half is far more effective. I got a few from charity shops.

I've got one, but it's a small one so I don't think it was doing the job as it should === still mopped every day!

Thanks all, I've order one - got quite a long one, so hopefully will catch all muck.

Training to stop on it is the next thing !
