Mud Wallowing - should i worry?

Not sure if my horse is just so pleased to be back out that she feels the need to wallow in mud, or if there's something more sinister.

She's unclipped & beginning to moult. Checked her mane & tail tonight & there's no sign of lice/mites. Mane is a bit scurfy but would expect that.

Thoughts please

Sounds like she's pleased to get some air in her back. Especially if she's beginning to moult. T wallows in mud 365 days a year and makes it look like so much fun!

Mine are wearing half the field because I turned them out with no rugs on. Cleaned them up and sent them out only for them to come in worse than before, Painting and the Forth Road Bridge springs to mind.

hippo is a good description. She does normally enjoy a muddy roll but yesterday & today she's come in plastered from head to tail less her face & the front of her neck. Gross!!! I'm probably worrying needlessly - she's not rubbed any mane/fur out. She's staying in tomorrow so I'll attack the rest of the mud & check through her fur. Reassurance is good

Tom wallows in mud all year round - and if it isn't muddy enough.... he'll dig a hole, have a wee and then roll in it.... revolting horse.

yuk! I can only just cope with the mud! Maybe I should be grateful it's only a couple of days a year that she wallows.

My boy welds mud on, even his face. Yuck.

He digs holes and waits for them to fill with rainwater so he can really wallow. He has three wallows on the go at the moment.
