well ladies the dreaded time for all us cob owners is here :( our fields have flooded 3 times so far so you can imagine the amount of mud! and my poor horseys feet are constantly covered. just a quick question to ask, would it be best to leave them and not stress if there is no problem(aka mud fever etc) or would i be best to get a bucket of warm water today and get most of the mud out? im scared him having so much mud on will cause bog burn or mud fever? opinions and tips please!!!!!!!!

a big smarm of pig oil (patch test 1st) once a week.
i think sometimes washing can make matters worse.
it`s that time of year :(

Pig Oil is your friend :) two shire x's pretty hairy but not as much feather as a full breed but shove this on once a week and no issues

(last year they had mud dreadlocks :) )

I'm feeling your pain!
My little coblets feathers are covered in mud :(
I've got some pig oil but not too sure how to apply it

it comes in a big can,i put some i a small tub with a sponge and lid so it is always ready.
i would try to get the worst mud off for the 1st go,just squeeze the sponge and wipe on.for heavy feather work in with your hands.
((i have not had sore hands since i started using it,so another benefit.)
