Had a thought for all you good people when out in the awful wet and muddy fields. Wellies are ok but when very muddy every time you lift your foot said boot sometimes gets left behind in the horrible mud...As I am an avid fly fisherperson I thought boot waders would be an excellent idea for those muddy fields. You don't need expensive ones but these would keep you clothes clean and dry as well.

What do you think?

So far my wellies have stayed on, but there's definitely a leak in the left one.

No idea about waders, but they never strike me easy to move in - & I have a 1/4 mile hike through slime and bog to get to my field!

I bought a pair of Grubbs Rainline wellies before christmas and so far so good. Not had my wellie sucked off in the mud yet! As for a good waterproof jacket that I have been searching for, for years, I have now invested in a flotation jacket and its brilliant!

Terrible idea, faff to put on and your legs will get hot. Thigh waders end up pulling your trousers down as you attach them to belt/trouser loops and if you do fall in the mud to sitting it will seep through the top of them.

Chest waders are even hotter, more cumbersome and you look ridiculous in them.

Just get nice slim fit wellies that won't come off, my century wellies have never let me down, although my calves do full them rather well. So yes, fitting wellies, or big calves :D

To be fair I quite like the mud where I am! (Ok obviously I don't *like it and would rather dry!)
It's very wet so watery and not at all deep. It wouldn't come over the foot of my boot or a hoof even in the gateway. It is very stony and hard underneath which is a nightmare in summer as it's rock hard but advantageous in winter!
There is a sea of it though and it's pretty lovely to roll in, or so I'm told...

There's no mud in my field...

It's all on the bloody horse! :D

I don't know how she managed it, but only the backs of her ears were clean...

She was wearing the best part of a ton of bricks by the time it had all dried :D
