Muddy legs

I always wash the mud off, then the legs will dry quickly. if you leave the mud on, it takes forever to dry and you have to scrub their legs to get it off when it eventually does dry, making them sore.

I put baby oil on my horses legs daily, so most often his legs don't hold any mud. Any that does stick gets brushed off in the mornnig.

I very rarely wash his legs.

I let dry o'natural, or rub with straw wisp. I very, very rarely wash, as if you don't dry properly you can encourage mud fever.

Its usually dried and crumbled off by the time I get down as our YO brings them in, its not too bad as we have gravel in the gateways and walk ways so it does really get too deap.
I spray them every few days to prevent the mud from sticking, if a horse is prone to mud fever then yes I'd have to wash them every day but my two fingers crossed seem to fine and its not sticky mud, its quite sandy mud so it doesnt really stick like some mud does...if that makes sense.

I do tend to wash off as I tend to ride later in the day and cant put boots on when muddy! After he's ridden they are normally dry and he's then in for the night so not a prob. He also doesn't like me brushing dry mud off and is such a fidgit that I'm always a bit wary about being trodden on! Our mud is clay so it really sticks and I guess it pulls his hairy legs!

Ditto too...plus if you have a nice deep clean staw bed...I find the legs are all clean and dry in the morning.

Leave them to dry and then brush them off. Also been using baby oil which has helped keep his feathers relatively mud free.
