what is the best form of protection for mudfever and can anyone suggest any ointments that they found had worked as my mare gets mudfever all year round regardless of weather conditions etc

your problem sounds really similar to what I went through with my mare last year and homeopathy was the way to go...Turnout socks are useful and Ive also found Alva mud and rain barrier really effective as it doesnt soften the skin like oils do, it just waterproofs everything. good luck!
 
I've started using this too, Chex gets mud fever all year. Worked brilliant for the first week, looked a bit scabby again after that though - but have no idea how often you're supposed to use it!
 
We have tried most things including turnout socks but it just makes her legs hot and more irratable. ill try using the chex but can you give me any info on where to get hold of it please!!!
