Hello All,

I would just like to know if anyone else has used cut heal on their horse and if they rate it at all? Someone has recommended that i use this on a quite large cut that my horse has just above his hock. It has been checked by a vet a couple of times and he has been prescribed anti biotics etc. Due to where the wound is i am unable to bandage at all plus the vet advised against it. It has now started to close up nicely and i need something to put on it to 1 - keep the flys off, 2 - provide some kind of anti bacterrial protection 3 - promote hair growth and reduce the amount of scaring left. The wound doesnt seem to bother him at all and as advised by the vet he has remained turned out (on his own). Does anyone know if this stuff is any good or even know of any other lotions and potions that may help?? I would really appreciate any advise and ideas on this

Thanks All xx :o

It works well on mine. Only thing I would say though is that it seems to sting a bit when you put it on. So prepare yourself in case they kick out.

Aluspray is better. Not sure where you get it from in the UK but if you look online you might get some. It is fantastic, covers well, doesn't wash off but lets the wound breathe. I highly rate it and think that it's the best wound spray around.

I find Cut Heal good as well.

A also like Dermagel. I find the hair grows back the same colour with this. I buy it from my vet, about £10.

Good luck.

I own a 24 yr old ex race horse. I got him when he was 6 yrs old and he constantly got injuries in the field because he is a dominant gelding. I have been using cut and heal ointment for all these years. Recently he managed to get a piece of lose electric fencing around his leg, causing a deep cut.
Cut and Heal eliminates the use of having to cover the wound because it is sticky and keeps infection and flies away. It makes a bit of a mess of the hair around the wound but it will eventually wash off. The ointment promotes healing from inside out. Follow the instructions, i.e. washing the area gently with a soft brush to remove dead debris from the top of the wound whilst the healing process continues from inside out. I have used it for quite deep wounds after the vet has checked. I absolutely swear by it and recommend it for every horse owner to have a tube in the tack box.
